Abstract

Today anthropology and education constitute a field of confrontation where the compartimentalization of knowledge attributes to anthropology the status of science and to education the status of practice. Within this primary divergence, professionals of both sides accuse each other and defend themselves based on preconceived ideas, reductionist practices, and lots of ignorance. Many aspects keep anthropologists and educators apart, but many others bring them together. In this text, we seek to point out what is similar and what is different in both areas based on the existence of a past dialogue which makes possible a future one. Therefore, we consider the possibility of overcoming prejudice and, thus, aiming at an advance in knowledge.
