The school has been increasily studied, not only in Brazil but also in other countries, constituting an important source to understand the realities of the vast majority of populations economic, social and culturally privileged. The literature produced by the authors of such studies denounce, in a schocking way, the low educational quality in various countries expressed by problems such as indiscipline in the classroom, work conditions, unprepared teachers who cannot put their works into practice, low professional status and remuneration, all worsened in Brazil due to the alarming indicators of evasion and missing the school year. With a glance at the teachers, as a political commitment and a research concern, since 1984, our study allows us to affirm that this panorama does not constitute a generalised failure but, essentially, challenges we are to face.
