This article analyses the provisions for special education in the new Lei de Diretrizes e Bases da Educação (Educations Bases and Aims act) That aims towards an approach at more closely related to regular education systems and programs. We focus upon some implications and perspectives for this area, in the context of the ongoing educational reforms.
