Abstract

SCHMIDT, Maria Auxiliadora Moreira dos Santos  and  GARCIA, Tânia Maria F. Braga. The formation of the historical awareness of students and teachers and everyday life in history classes. Cad. CEDES [online]. 2005, vol.25, n.67, pp. 297-308. ISSN 0101-3262.  http://dx.doi.org/10.1590/S0101-32622005000300003.

The reflections contained in this article are part of a series of concerns related to the scholar meaning of the historical knowledge and its ambitious participation in the process of renewing school, because "our school has a terrible need of being transformed" (Snyders, 1988, p. 11). According to this author, transforming school requires reformulating its contents, since, "every school is defined by the contents that it selects, proposes and privileges - the ones that it silences (...)". In this perspective, this paper discusses some elements to define new contents and approaches in the history teaching of the first grades, to form the historical awareness of both students and teachers. These reflections are the results of the project "Recriando Histórias" (Recreating [Hi]Stories), developed by researchers from the Federal University of Paraná, in partnership with third grade teachers and students of Municipal Elementary Schools.
