Abstract
BARBOSA, Maria Inês Batista and REZENDE FILHO, Luiz Augusto Coimbra de. A MAGIC CHEST: STORIES AND ADVENTURES FOR DEAF CHILDREN ON WEB TV. Cad. CEDES [online]. 2021, vol.41, n.113, pp.65-74. Epub Jan 15, 2021. ISSN 1678-7110. https://doi.org/10.1590/cc242484.
This paper analyzes the conception of the tv show for deaf children Baú do Tito, through an ethnographic research that accompanied its production. The TV show introduces sign language through a playful universe that mixes fantasy and reality. Segmentation by age group, interactivity, and protagonism of the deaf child were some of the strategies found, which are in line with the principles that guide the production ofchildren’s programs today. The strategies show that producers conceive young deaf spectators as cultural subjects, not as disabled individuals.
