Nowadays, the concern with the space of and in the works of art has been withdrawn from the artistic debate. But the current enlargement of artistic conceptions, strategies and process modes brings to memory this condition of existence of the works of art, whose reach has been broadly underestimated. This text traces an overview of the matter of space in visual arts during the XX^th century and relates the debate to contemporary production.
