Abstract

ABRAMOVAY, Ricardo. Desenvolvimento sustentável: qual a estratégia para o Brasil?. Novos estud. - CEBRAP [online]. 2010, n.87, pp. 97-113. ISSN 0101-3300.  http://dx.doi.org/10.1590/S0101-33002010000200006.

Brazil's success in reducing forest fire in the Amazon Forest and the triumph of its energy matrix are important achievements, but do not yet indicate a real dynamic of sustainable development. It is true that Brazil has gone through an important and unprecedented process of simultaneous reduction of poverty and income inequality. These advances, though, are not based on economic growth forms explicitly engaged in the reduction of energy and raw materials use. Brazilian industrial growth risks dissociating itself from the more advance technologies internationally in use today.

Keywords : Sustainable development; environmental degradation; Brazilian energy matrix; decarbonization.
