This paper discusses general references for teaching materials production on media education to Secondary Schools' students within the area of Languages, Codes and its Technologies. It departs from international theoretical framework, as well as practical cases, particularly from countries where there are disciplines of media studies in the curriculum. It also considers the Brazilian National Curriculum Parameters and the results of experiments performed on Media Education Lab. The result is a set of propositions for the development of multimodal materials, including framework, methodology and exercises.
