Abstract

A female of Zapteryx brevirostris were caught at Queimada Grande Island, Itanhaém, São Paulo on 19/II/2002, and transported to Núcleo de Pesquisa e Estudo em Chondrichthyes (NUPEC) captivities. At 21/II/2002, the female gave birth to six pups (three males and three females). This is a first birth record of Z. brevirostris in captivity.
