This paper analyzes the campaign started by Aureliano José Bonifácio Coutinho from the tutoring of the future Emperor Pedro II, started through his newspaper "A Verdade" (The Truth) between 1832 and 1834. It indicates how this action was decisive for the political career of Aureliano, future Viscount of Sepetiba, in order to achieve preeminence palace in the Brazilian imperial court.
