PIVATTO, Priscila Maddalozzo. Republican Readings: production and dissemination of Brazilian Constitutional Law books during the First Republic. História [online]. 2011, vol.30, n.2, pp. 144-178. ISSN 1980-4369. http://dx.doi.org/10.1590/S0101-90742011000200008.
The Brazilian Constitutional Law books published during the First Republic are an important part of the History of the Book in Brazil and are one of the mechanisms responsible for the construction of constitutional norms and understandings about the new political and legal settings introduced in the country after the proclamation of the Republic and the promulgation of the Federal Constitution in 1891. In order to perceive aspects of the participation and contribution of the Brazilian authors in the process of formation and formatting of the new political order, the analysis of the production and dissemination of Constitutional Law books allows to insert the authors in the debates of their own time, rebuilding a discursive struggle materialized in books affected by social, economic and political elements that go beyond the dual relationship between author and reader.
