The appreciation of the New World by english, irish and scottish authors can be noted since the second half of the sixteenth century. The understanding of this theme is one of the goals of this article that seeks to evaluate the written production between the sixteenth, seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, with emphasis on the formulation of philosophical histories of America. We pretend, in short, evaluate how the american scenario was described by authors that, in distinct moments, have asked about the place of America in the english historiography.
