A proposal for institutional action and its theoretical and methodological fundaments for History teachers' formation. Emphasis on the elaboration of teaching material, teaching and learning activities and the evaluation of the environment questions inside the academic historical knowledge, research practices and the environmental education. The experiments had been developed in 2002-2003 by the project "História e Meio Ambiente: estudo das formas de viver, sentir e pensar o mundo natural na América portuguesa e no Império do Brasil (1550-1889)" ["History and Environment: study of the forms of living, feeling and thinking about the natural world at the Portuguese America and the Empire of Brazil (1550-1889)"], at Núcleo de Ensino da Faculdade de Ciências e Letras da Unesp, at Assis/SP.
