The authors make a comparative analysis of the power of corporative business representation in Brazil and Argentine. A distinction is made between two basic dimensions: the economic and the political. On this basis they are able to analyse the forms of internal organization of the associations and their relationships both with the state and with the micro-economic strategies of the enterprises.
