MARIANO, Karina Pasquariello. Globalization, integration and the state. Lua Nova [online]. 2007, n.71, pp. 123-168. ISSN 0102-6445.  http://dx.doi.org/10.1590/S0102-64452007000200005.

This article is a reflection on the importance of the integration for the Latin American countries in the globalized age, standing out those specific characteristics of the integrational processes, calling the attention to the cases of the Mercosul and the FTAA. Its intention is to understand the integration beyond its function as a possible promoter of a sustainable development or the international insertion, being part of a process of change in the State itself.

Keywords : Integration; Mercosul; FTAA; Globalization.
