Abstract

PATARRA, Neide Lopes  and  BAENINGER, Rosana. Spatial mobility of population at Mercosul: metropolises and frontiers. Rev. bras. Ci. Soc. [online]. 2006, vol.21, n.60, pp. 83-102. ISSN 0102-6909.  http://dx.doi.org/10.1590/S0102-69092006000100005.

This text constitutes the unfolding and updating of former researches on the analyses of international migratory movements in the context of Mercosul. Always contextualized in macrostructural processes of productive reconstitution, such studies also turn to the possible effects on the formation of the economic block as some multilateral strategy to face the frequently perverse effects of the contemporary context in terms of emerging relocations of populations. This study is inserted in the discussion of the relations among, on the one hand, the productive restructuring process, the internationalization of the economy, and the formation of economic blocks, whereas volumes, tendencies and characteristics of Mercosul Census data, tendencies and specificities of international migrations in the area, on the other. We also outline a profile of the social groups involved.

Keywords : International migrations; Migratory policies; Mercosul;; Regional integration.
