This paper explores the determinants of the vote for Lula in 2006. The purpose is to differentiate vote for Lula from vote for the Worker's Party (PT), focusing on the voters that have supported Lula without declaring any identification with PT. We conclude that the "lulista" is similar to the independent voter who does not show strong political or ideological preferences and votes somewhat influenced by retrospective evaluations of the government's performance.
