This article discusses the power of poetic writings. It shows that a poem is lent to the "missing name" as a way to struggle to keep nomination spaces vacant, but still alive. That evidently doesn't imply a mute attitude. On the contrary, when using new significants the poet activates the failure of the signs in communicating something about what they are. We aim to develop an argument about the ethical and political commitment of poetry based on the image suggestions of a poem by Joaquim Cardozo (1897-1978) entitled Canto da Serra dos Órgãos.
