Resumen

RABINOVICH, Elaine Pedreira; MOREIRA, Lúcia Vaz de Campos  y  FRANCO, Anamélia. Roles, behaviors, activities and relashionships from members of Bahia's families. Psicol. Soc. [online]. 2012, vol.24, n.1, pp. 139-149. ISSN 0102-7182.  http://dx.doi.org/10.1590/S0102-71822012000100016.

This study aimed to compare data about family roles, behaviors, activities and relationships obtained by Georgas, Berry, Vijver, Kagitçibasi and Poortinga (2006) with data from Bahia, Brazil. 170 university students living in Bahia answered a closed questionnaire focusing family roles, behaviors, activities and relationships between the following family members: mother, father, grandfather, grandmother, uncle/aunt, 10-year-old boy and girl, 20-year-old female and male. Data were analyzed using the program Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). Similarly to the referred study, the mother is the main character and the father shares the financial power with her, but female family members are more in charge of the housework activities of cleaning, cooking and washing. Grandmothers succeeded the parents as to their importance in family roles and there is more emotional interdependence than economical/ financial interdependence related to the child.
