CERVI, Emerson Urizzi. Affirmative actions at the UFPR admission exam between 2005 and 2012: from racial affirmative policies to gender affirmative policies. Rev. Bras. Ciênc. Polít. [online]. 2013, n.11, pp.63-88. ISSN 0103-3352.  https://doi.org/10.1590/S0103-33522013000200003.

The paper analyses the results obtained in the eight first years of existence of the policy of social and racial quotas at the Paraná Federal University (UFPR). From 2005 to 2012, prior to law 12711/2012, UFPR had its own system of quotas, which reserved up to 20% of places for race quota holders and 20% for social quota holders. The goal is to analyze the effects of the adoption of such system for approval of black candidates and public school students, as compared to results from 2004 - the last admission exam held without quota policies. Quantitative analyzes are conducted on the performance of about 50 thousand candidates per year according to type of quota, course, and shift. The results show an unexpected effect of UFPR's affirmative policies: despite increasing below black approval rates in general, more black women passed the exam.
