Abstract: The objective of this paper is to analyze how the recruitment of young people by Brazilian political parties occurs today. The study evaluates young people’s motivations for affiliation and their self-perception about the subtitles to which they are affiliated, having as its axis of analysis the following questions: (a) what motivates a young person to join a political party in the current Brazilian context? (b) how does affiliation occur? (c) what factors contribute most to youth adherence to party organizations? (d) What are young people’s perceptions of this process? Specifically, some hypotheses are tested using chi-square. The findings show that family capital and militant capital are the two factors that most influence young people to join the parties. In the first case, the closest relatives are the most influential (parents and siblings). In the second case, militancy in the student and social movements.
