At a time when many trajectories of life are characterized by an uncertain and unpredictable future - with frequent entropies and arrhythmic stages - this proposes a sociological reflection concerning generations with a dark future: youth, even with increasing education, without future expectations, elderly with longer life expectancy but cynical about its significance. Data from international surveys and case studies are convened in analysis of the anxieties of age caused by the frustrations and fears in relation to the future when the present is deficient in hope.
