A survey was conducted in Santa Maria-RS, from Juty 1992 to July 1993 aiming to identify frog-hopper species of the Cercopidae family. The survey was conducted on (UFSM Compus, downtown and a high platean located nearby) using three differente collecting methods (sweep-net, ground-cloth and light trap). Nime Cercopidae species were identifyed weekly. The most frequently tly specie observed was Deois incompleta which represented 63.43% of the total number of insects collected. Among the collecting methods tested, the most efficient was the sweep - net whereas ground-cloth was the least effïcient.
