When depression enters familiar life it provokes an impact on the person suffering this disease and their family members. The aim of this study was to describe the personal and family experiences related to the depression suffering process. The research method was ethnographic. For data collection participant observation process of familiar context of 13 patients with medical diagnose of depression in the course of treatment at a Peruvian Psychiatric Institute, was carried out. The cultural theme "The depression inserted in to family life" reflects the impact caused by the disease in families' daily living. It was possible to observe the impact of cultural backgrounds on attitudes and thinking of family members of persons suffering from depression.
