Abstract

MONTEIRO, Claudete Ferreira de Souza  and  SOUZA, Ivis Emilia de Oliveira. The domestic violence experience: daily facts. Texto contexto - enferm. [online]. 2007, vol.16, n.1, pp. 26-31. ISSN 0104-0707.  http://dx.doi.org/10.1590/S0104-07072007000100003.

Domestic violence occurs daily for some women as a repetitive, cruel fact that at times seems almost common. To these women, domestic violence is a part of their daily life, surrounded by fights, shoves, swearing, humiliation, and shame. Twelve women who were victims of domestic violence in Teresina, PI were interviewed. The objective of this study was to understand the experience of domestic violence by the victimized woman. The phenomenological reference was used to analyze the interviews based on the concepts of Martin Heidegger. The comprehensive analysis method used in this study permitted the victimized women to describe their experiences. The results revealed that these women are prisoners in their own homes and are prevented from participating in companionship with family members and in other areas of social life. The study shows that there is factual evidence where the physical marks are principally those that are more reported.
