Care concepts and practices from men's viewpoint

Care has always been associated with woman; since it has always been associated with women. Had intended to, through exploratory and descriptive qualitative research, describe the concepts and practices of care from the perception of men. Narrative interviews were conducted with men between 20 and 30 years living in the catchment area of a Family Health Strategy. From the thematic analysis the results demonstrated that men conceive of care in a comprehensive and single way; they constitute beings of care to family, friends and colleagues; practice it through actions and diversified attitudes; in a reciprocal relationship feel cared by women-mothers-wives-sisters. It has been noted the relevance of this study for nursing as it will contribute with the planning of innovative actions consistent with the conceptions of these subjects.
