This study identifies the perceptions of young high school students from two public schools located in a city in the state of Alagoas about the values transmitted in the television media. It identifies the profile of these young people and their favourite programme in this media. This is a field research in two public schools in the state, attended by 87 students. The instrument used was a questionnaire with open and closed questions. We conclude that it is necessary to discuss the topic at school and not to ignore the power of this media by teachers, contributing to a reflection on the values disseminated by it.
