Abstract

The article aims to comprehend the logics governing the appropriation and consumption of the elements that compose the funk attire, through the dialogue between the classificatory systems and the approaches that focuses upon the materiality of the object. In order to do that, the funk taste will be taken in its transit between the party and daily life, which includes the come and go from the "favelas" to other areas of the city, as the ball itself, school and work. From this point of view, the brands of the garments are seen as indicators of a tense relation with Modernity, wherein the conflict appears as a constituent trait of the youngsters sociality and structuring element of their cosmology.
