The paper reconstructs the connections between theoretical genesis and social genesis of some concepts and devices of French Institutional Analysis, understood as a truth, practice and subjectification regime, during the "years of winter" - an expression inspired in Félix Guattari, that portrays the contemporary world. A particular emphasis is given to the concepts of implication and overimplication, as they are formulated by René Lourau. The final statements outline problems regarding the Institutional Analysis in Brazil, mainly in its relationships with the University. We suppose that the Institutional Analysis 'infolding' is necessarily related with a practice of 'getting free of itself'.
