Abstract
BALDIN, Edson L.L. and BOICA JR., Arlindo L.. Development of Holhymenia histrio (Fabr.) (Hemiptera: Coreidae) in fruits of five passion fruit genotypes (Passiflora spp.). An. Soc. Entomol. Bras. [online]. 1999, vol.28, n.3, pp. 421-427. ISSN 0301-8059. http://dx.doi.org/10.1590/S0301-80591999000300006.
Antibiosis was observed in fruits of different passion fruit genotypes (Passiflora spp.) on Holhymenia histrio Fabr. Essays were accomplished in the Department of Entomology and Nematology UNESP, Jaboticabal, SP. The development of newly-hatched nymphs on fruits of the different genotypes was studied. The duration and mortality of each nymphal instar, the weight of fourth-instar nymphs, the adults weight and fecundity were determined. The genotypes P. giberti, P. coccinea, P. alata and P. edulis f. flavicarpa presented antibiosis for the bugs H. histrio. P. giberti caused high mortality during the second instar, thus showing to be the less adequate. The fruits of P. nitida were most adequate for the development of the nymphs and adults of the bugs.
