The objective of this work was to study aspects of postharvest physiology of cut roses cv. Vega, treated with different concentrations of 1-metilcloropropene (1-MCP). The experiment was conducted in a complete randomized design composed of two factors: four postharvest treatments and four dates of evaluation (0; 4; 8; 12 days). The following treatments were used: 1) distilled water; 2) 1-metilciclopropeno (1-MCP) 100 ppb; 3) 1-MCP 250 ppb; 4) 1-MCP 500 ppb. The following evaluations were made: fresh weight, color, turgor, curvature, respiration rate, relative water content, content of soluble carbohydrates, reducing and anthocyanin. Unlike treatment with distilled water, all concentrations of 1-MCP were effective in delaying the senescence of flowers; however, the concentration of 1-MCP at 500 ppb was highlighted by better maintenance of quality and extended decorate life stem up to 19 days.
