Abstract
CHEVANCE, André. The unconscious and food repression: is there any place for desire and pleasure in the elderly's life?.Translated byMarcos Alexandre Gomes Nalli, Gustavo Adolfo Ramos Mello Neto. Psicol. estud. [online]. 2000, vol.5, n.2, pp. 117-126. ISSN 1413-7372. http://dx.doi.org/10.1590/S1413-73722000000200009.
Through the idea of food exogamy and its place in Edipus’ complex, the author aims at reflecting upon food repression in the elderly’s life and upon its perverse effects - such as hipochondry - as a result of that process. It deals, therefore, with a reflection on a social choice which consists of substituting for food, the desire for prohibition or repression.
Keywords : Psychoanalysis; food repression; the elderly.
