Essay comprises a research on breast cancer and family history undertaken during seven years at the Center of Applied Psychology of the Federal University of Juiz de Fora, Juiz de Fora MG Brazil. Clinic data supplied by one of the voluntary families included in the UFJF research revealed such categories as marriage, religiosity and sex issues during interviews. The Silva family has a cultural identity typical of the Minas Gerais immigrant country family. An analysis has been undertaken on tradition within the contemporaneous milieu vis-à-vis the intergeneration transmission of culture in support values.
