Abstract
WAZLAWICK, Patrícia; CAMARGO, Denise de and MAHEIRIE, Kátia. Meanings and senses of music: a brief composition from cultural-historical psychology. Psicol. estud. [online]. 2007, vol.12, n.1, pp.105-113. ISSN 1807-0329. https://doi.org/10.1590/S1413-73722007000100013.
The construction of meanings and senses in music from the point of view of Cultural-Historical Psychology, with special reference to L. S. VygotskI, is discussed. An interface with the ideas of Norwegian music-therapists Even Ruud and Brynjulf Stige, grounded on Ludwig Wittgenstein's philosophy, is highlighted. The experience of music brings about not merely a relationship with the musical matter itself, but with a whole network of meanings built in the social world within wider collective contexts and in more particular contexts. Meanings and senses of music are built from political, economical and social contexts, from concrete existences and from the "living use" of music by involved people. Actually this is where they articulate their affection, desires and motivations.
Keywords : Meanings and senses of music; music therapy; cultural-historical psychology.
