Abstract

CHIAVEGATO FILHO, Luiz Gonzaga  and  PEREIRA JR., Alfredo. Work related osteomuscular diseases: multifactorial etiology and explanatory models. Interface (Botucatu) [online]. 2004, vol.8, n.14, pp. 149-162. ISSN 1414-3283.  http://dx.doi.org/10.1590/S1414-32832004000100009.

A brief bibliographic review was undertaken on Repetitive Strain Injury/Work Related Osteomuscular diseases, analyzing the etiological factors involved and current explanatory models. A proposal for a new approach is suggested, integrating the biopsychosocial factors involved in the generation and evolution of such injuries and diseases. This article reflects the idea that the transition from a study of isolated factors to the consideration of the dynamics of the interaction between these factors would allow the current multidisciplinary approach to progress towards a transdisciplinary model.

Keywords : Cumulative trauma disorders; models; multidisciplinarity; transdisciplinarity; occupational health.
