Production of comprehensive prenatal care: a pregnant woman's route at a primary family healthcare unit

This study aimed to understand the production of comprehensive prenatal care in a primary family healthcare unit in Fortaleza. To this end, semi-structured interviews were conducted with a user whose prenatal care was provided at a primary family healthcare unit, with systematic observations on her prenatal consultations. The analysis of the material, which was done in accordance with Merhy's analytical flowchart, revealed bureaucratization of the reception at the entrance, a sequence of violations of rights in the team-user relationship and little access by the user to information about childbirth and the puerperium. It was concluded that reception, bonding and taking responsibility are still not institutionalized devices within the family healthcare team. Healthcare is based on the individual values of each professional, which alone does not enable comprehensiveness of prenatal care.
