PINA, José Augusto. Brazilian popular music in constructing public health knowledge: the topic of work process and health. Interface (Botucatu) [online]. 2014, vol.18, n.48, pp.87-100. ISSN 1807-5762.  http://dx.doi.org/10.1590/1807-57622014.0491.

This study highlights some topics relating to work and health in Brazilian popular music, especially samba, aiming to present a body of knowledge on the topic of work process and health. In the songs selected, categories were identified as a starting point for a discussion with the literature. With the development of the text, the wealth of folk song can be seen to provide content relating to the multiple dimensions of the work process and health-illness process of workers, including the collective and historical dimension of the struggle for the right to healthcare. This study resulted in placing value on Brazilian popular music as a way of understanding work-health relationships and developing public health knowledge.
