Social Work and Ethical Challenges in Research: a bibliographic study

Ethics in research has been an issue of growing importance in the disciplinary field of Social Work due to the increased number of studies involving human beings and the need to protect the rights of participants. The purpose of this article is to present a profile of the people studied and the ethical care adopted in studies involving humans published in the Revista Katálysis from 1997 to 2011. This study is based on bibliographic research. The survey found 53 articles based on studies involving humans with the following profile of the research participants according to age range: 73% involved adults; 21% children and adolescents; and 6% senior citizens. Since 2007, 53% of the articles published describe the ethical care adopted in the research, such as the preservation of anonymity and the return of the results to the participants.
