This paper aims at analyzing the diversification of strategies of social reproduction of small-scale fishing families in the central southern coast of Santa Catarina State. This case study has showed that environmental problems and management failure of fish stock have negatively impacted the production and income of small-scale fishers, forcing them to embrace pluriactivity to survive or even to abandon fishery.
