ABSTRACT
Objective:
To evaluate the quality of life and degree of acute toxicity by radiation in patients with cervical, breast and endometrium cancers in radiotherapy.
Methods:
Quantitative, descriptive, prospective, longitudinal study, conducted between 2012-2013, using the Scoring Criteria for Acute Radiation Morbidity and the tool developed by the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire.
Results:
16 patients were followed, and the quality of life of these patients was considered good. Patients with breast cancer had radiodermatitis, and those with cancer of the cervix and endometrium showed acute toxicities by radiation in the gastrointestinal and genitourinary systems, and also showed radiodermatitis.
Conclusions:
Chemotherapy administered concurrently, income and age influenced the quality of life of patients. The lack of statistical difference between the measurements of the scores obtained in the first and last week may indicate that radiation treatment did not change the quality of life of women.
