Since early 2000's, China's rise as a global economic and political power has been at the forefront of academic and political debates. In this paper we analyze some impacts of this watershed event on Brazil. More specifically, we investigate the evolution of bilateral trade and business cycle patterns of convergence between those two countries, considering a broader analysis of Brazilian external competitiveness. We conclude exploring some normative implications of our findings.
