Abstract

PRATA, Maria Regina. Death instinct: mortification or combat?. Ágora (Rio J.) [online]. 2000, vol.3, n.2, pp.115-135. ISSN 1516-1498.  http://dx.doi.org/10.1590/S1516-14982000000200007.

This paper sets out to investigate the concept of death instinct in Freudian thinking, based on two sources. On the one hand, it points out to its aspect of death and conservation. On the other, it shows creative possibilities stimulated by death instincts in the field of clinical psychoanalysis, using the work of sublimation as an example.

Keywords : Freud; death instinct; conservation; creation; psychoanalysis clinical.
