BACKGROUND: Speech, language and hearing sciences and worker health. PURPOSE: to present a revision of concepts, conceptions and history linked to the vigilance in Employee's Health, in its broad meaning, comprising epidemiologic, environmental and sanitary vigilances, referring to the importance regarding the use of such concepts in the practice of Speech Therapy. CONCLUSION: considering that the Vigilance in Employee's Health follows the guidelines of the Unique Health System (SUS), the speech therapist is required to adopt such guidelines in practice, identifying and modifying the risks originating from these occupational activities.
