The present study reports the effect of strengthening reading relations and the effect of transferring stimulus control on speech production in a child with speech apraxia. We used the program "Aprendendo a Ler e a Escrever em Pequenos Passos(r)." The activities were performed twice per week for a total of twenty-two 30-min sessions. The results indicated an increase in correct responses in the subject's speech production when presented with different stimuli. The findings corroborate previous studies that reported speech improvements through equivalence relations. The data demonstrate the benefits of strengthening reading and writing networks.
