Family members group of individuals with language disorder: process of preparation and application of therapeutic activities

ABSTRACT

Purpose:

to analyze the elaboration and application process of activities developed with family members group of children/adolescents with language alteration under therapeutic accompaniment.

Methods:

this is a qualitative research which focuses on groups; data was collected through a field diary of discussions during supervision of speech therapy in Language Disorder stage, and recording of audio and video of family members groups, containing transcription and content analysis of the data.

Results:

in the stage supervision students were encouraged to mature reasoning to approach the family; in group activities the participants were encouraged to reflect on difficulties and how to deal with language changes, among others.

Conclusion:

the study contributed to maturing description of interns over the supervision and raised the discussion on speech therapy approach towards family members, encouraging them to build with the subjects ways to benefit them regarding language disorder, without damaging connection and interaction relationships.
