Abstract

SILVA, Alexandre Coradini Fontoura da et al. Alternatives management of winter pasture: levels of green leaf lamina biomass. R. Bras. Zootec. [online]. 2005, vol.34, n.2, pp. 472-478. ISSN 1806-9290.  http://dx.doi.org/10.1590/S1516-35982005000200014.

This work aimed to evaluate animal production and pasture variables with a management of levels of 350 and 600 kg/ha of green leaf lamina biomass (GLLB). Treatments were consisted of total forage mass of 617 and 1139 kg/ha of DM, respectively, lower than recommended levels for maximum animal performance. No differences were observed on total forage and green leaf blade daily accumulation rates, on total forage production, daily live weight gain, stocking rate and gain per area, which was near 430 kg/ha for both treatments. Forage on offer was different among treatments, being an average of 5.47 and 7.69 kg of DM/100 kg of live weight for 350 e 600 kg/ha of GLLB, respectively.

Keywords : green leaf blade biomass; forage on offer; animal production.
