Two discourses on the HIV/AIDS theme in newspaper texts and in scientific textbooks for secondary schools were analyzed. Investigation of the discourses suggested studies on the role of figures of speech, especially metaphors, in scientific and pedagogical models. Results showed that the discourses are wide apart since the pedagogical model of the textbook discourse does not have any link to scientific discoveries.
