Abstract

SCHMAL, Rodolfo; RUIZ, Reinaldo; DONOSO, Sebastián  and  SCHAFFERNICHT, Martin. Factors that impact on funding for higher education in Chile. Sociologias [online]. 2007, n.17, pp. 316-339. ISSN 1517-4522.  http://dx.doi.org/10.1590/S1517-45222007000100013.

The article covers the main factors that impact on funding higher education in Chile, presenting the fundaments and relations of a model to estimate the volume of resources committed and options for provision. In the last two decades the university market has doubled its total of students - a phenomenon that should continue, entailing serious pressures on public funding. The model proposed here points to a systems approach to the problem.
