The furniture industry of Ubá has presented a major economic development in recent years. However, the analysis of the local production shows that there is no differentiation through design and competitiveness has been based on lower costs. The proposals that have been made to reposition the local production and conquer more demanding markets will ask for the development of new strategies in design, so that it can become a distinctive element in the local production.
