This article discusses the influence of architectural design on the acoustic quality of the Berlin Philharmonic concert hall. This study was carried out using the methodology "Notes on the synthesis of form" proposed by Alexander (1977). This is the application of this methodology in acoustic design. The study seeks to understand the solutions adopted by each designer during the development of the design, hence optimizing the design process, making it more transparent and less dependent on trial and error. This methodology showed a hierarchy of relationships and dependency of the characteristics of the design of the Berlin Philharmonic. The result of this hierarchy helped to understand how the design is articulated and how particular design solutions influence the acoustics of the room. This optimization of the design process seeks to improve communication and the performance of the team involved in the design, as well as to avoid costly mistakes, as the process becomes more transparent.
